The national team of Montenegro was not lucky in the draw for the World Championship 2019 in Germany and Denmark. „Lions“ won Croatia for the rivals, which is regular, not only in big competitions, but also in the finals of the same.
Montenegro’s selector Dragan Djukic commented on the following draw:
– I do not think it could have been harder. At the end of the draw, we remained Croatia, Norway or defeated EP finalist. An extremely difficult draw, especially after this result of Croatia on the home court. They will have to go to the World Cup, for them would be a huge debacle not to leave. On the other hand, for us this is a great chance for this generation to finally show something special at senior age.
– We were expecting here to play something different here in Croatia, to be what was eventually Czech Republic, but we were not complete. I hope that in June we and Croatia will be complete. I hope that this second game in our field will decide on a passenger on the EP, that we will have a chance in the back.
The question is and in which team Croatia will play a barrage double, probably with a new selector on the bench …
– I think that Croatia will be most motivated against us, as Germany was at the start of the European Championship in Croatia. Just because of their results, it will be extremely difficult to surprise them. The calendar is very strange, the Bundesliga ends on June 3 – as the players return, this is the fourth, and the eighth should play the first game. What we do both in April, this is from the preparation.
– We have already agreed some matches with Bosnia and Herzegovina in April, in our field, it is clear that this will practically be the only preparation for us. We know well with Croatia, we even planned to ask them to play one preparatory match against the barrage, but now it’s of course wasted.
From this point of view, will there be some changes in the Montenegrin team to the barrage?
-This is the Montenegrin team, the team that came to the EP, with the addition of Vuk Borozan that we missed. But I hope that in a little better health bulletin we will meet with a double, that Simic and Grbovic, who are very important, will be more flexible. I want Croatia to be complete, to play two good matches, and whoever will be better to pass, Djukic concluded.
