Coach Ljubomir Obradovic, together with his professional staff, for the second time this year, gathered the most perspective players from Serbian clubs to the training center, which took place from Sunday to Tuesday in Kosutnjak. The four joint trainings assisted the expert staff in assessing the possibility of candidates, as well as the individual players in the individual development:
– This is what we imagined to try and train as many girls as possible through training centers because we are unable to do so for a short period of time through the EHF week. We want to prepare them for the next generation of handball in Serbia. Anyone who works must be an optimist. The girls respond to all the tasks. If it does not work, there is no optimism. Nothing falls from the sky. He must be persistent. The more these gatherings are needed. If we succeed and in the regions to achieve this, to unite everything into one whole, to enable as many children as possible for senior management, this will be the right thing.
Selektor Obradovic commented on the performance at the World Championship in Germany, where the national team took ninth place, after excellent group games and defeat by Montenegro in the eighth finals.
– The girls responded well to the tactics we have prepared for the matches in the group. The tactical part was done just right. With more days and training, it would be even better. We had Germans and Dutch, we could have won. In the match with Montenegro, we did not respond to the tactical requirements for that match. It came that day, and nobody can tell me that we were not ready, because we fulfilled the tasks in the matches with the Dutch women vice-champions, the Germans in the role of hosts and strong Korea. It happened what happened. We pulled out lessons and we will continue to work to improve our game style.
We are in the middle of the Olympic cycle to the Games in Tokyo …
– It has places optimism, but it’s hard to say anything else. We went to the Championship with no training in the entire squad. We also had injuries, family problems, everything that followed. We have a good representation. It’s a set of girls who can respond to the highest demands. I expect to have a positive atmosphere before the matches with the Swedes in the qualifications for the European Championship in France.
