Garcia Cuesta was run by the Portuguese team between 1999 and 2005, being the first Spanish coach to play outside the country. He was with Portugal in the final stages of the European Championship 2000 (Croatia), 2002 (Sweden) and 2004 (Germany), as well as at the 2001 World Cup in France and 2003, organized by Portugal.
Garcia Cuesta began to work in football as a fitness coach for Atletico Madrid and then started a handball international career in the United States where he led women’s and men’s teams in several stages.
