The seven-time consecutive champion of Serbia, the team of Vojvodina, will host a returnee to the elite rank of the competition – Crvenka, on Saturday at 5:50 p.m. That was also the reason for us to call Boris Rojevic and hear from him everything that the young expert, only by age, and his team expects in the next year.
The season begins. The format of the competition has changed and your team is in group A. What is your first comment on the opponents, but also the new season?
„The first comment is that, at least in terms of the sound of the name, group A is heavier than group B. I am of the opinion that all teams can definitely make it to the playoffs. The main candidates for that, next to us, are certainly Dinamo and Partizan. A little behind is Dubocica. We must not underestimate the teams of Proleter and Spartak. These are teams with great coaches, good teams. Crvenka follows as a young team, a returnee to the league, and those guys are certainly eager to prove themselves and compete. The only unknown remains Kikinda. We are ready to welcome the first round and the arrival of Crvenka. “
What are the club’s goals this season?
„We are a club that wants and must win trophies. As soon as we found out when the Cup is being played, we immediately started to seriously prepare and adjust the form for those two games, which we played well. This is the first trophy, although it is run as if it was from last season, each one is important to us. We want more! ”
Who do you see as the biggest competitor in the title fight?
„Partizan is a slightly younger team, but I think that the young player is progressing much more than the older one. They have room throughout the season to progress, to raise the level of their game, and it is very possible that they will be a serious problem for the entire league. Dinamo is a group of great players and they also have a great coach. I don’t think they showed their full potential in the Cup final. What is certain is that they also have young players, but I will also dare to say the most experienced players in the league – Vuckovic, Kostadinovic, Mitrovic, Distol. Metaloplastika is in the second group, but they certainly have the best or best players with us and Dinamo. The railwayman is also there and I think they are waiting for their chance and lurking in the shadows. “
You changed the team compared to last year. Are you happy with the lineup and what does it look like now?
„This year, due to the situation that affected the whole world, we had to make a decision to reduce the budget. The director of the club, Jevtić (Darko) and I sat down and said, that if we can’t bring more expensive players, then let’s try to hire „real“ guys, those who will live and die for the club at any moment. I think we succeeded in that. We brought less sounding names, but they are all players who love handball, who leave their heart on the field and make a real team. And sometimes that’s the most important thing. “
„I am glad that we have something called a system – we can change everything, but the mold remains and that is why we have success. I’m proud of that. We breathe as one „, says the strategist of the Novi Sad team Rojević.
SEHA League Voshi for the first time as another competition
This will be the first time you play two competitions at the same time. When the Cup and three come. Are you ready for the rhythm of Wednesday-Sunday matches?
„As a club, we are only now entering the situation of playing two leagues. We have no experience with that, but that is not an alibi. The biggest problem is that at the moment we have three players less in the roster compared to last year. Problems await us, a lot of matches, travel. What I will certainly not allow, as a coach, for training to suffer because of the number of games. We are a club that has been the best in March, April and May for years. That’s because we work constantly and hard throughout the year. “
What goal have you set this season in the SEHA league?
„We are in a group with Vardar, Tatran from Presov, Nexe and Motor from Zaporozhye. These are all teams that have a budget several times bigger than us and that have managed to spend extra money and strengthen their teams this season as well. It is true that every match is more of an experience for my team and me, so every victory is a success for us. We will try to win as much as possible – that will be our goal in the SEHA league. „
