After the defeat by Gyor, Dragan Adzic resigned and closed the most brilliant chapter in the history of ZRK Buducnost and Montenegrin handball after 10 years and 10 months at the head of the professional staff. The role of coach was taken over by Bojana Popović, but in the meantime she was left without Andrea Lekić, and Valerija Maslova, who is not allowed to play yet.
That is why the legend of world handball, now the First Coach of Buducnost, had to keep the back trio Alison Pino – Itana Grbić – Katarina Džaferović on the field for almost 60 minutes, but her team endured and brought her victory on her debut vs Dortmund 31:27 (15:15)
- We knew it would be difficult because of the problems we have with injured players. We trained well in the past two weeks, we have good energy, but we knew that Borussia runs a lot and is a demanding opponent. There was a period in the first half when we did not return to the defense in the right way, so at one point the opponent took the lead – Popović pointed out.
The half-time deal changed things.
- During the break, we agreed that we had to return better in defense. We opened the second half in the right way and punished them with easy goals. I am happy for the victory, proud of the girls and grateful to them, but now we turn to the next match.
