This winter, the handball club Borac m: tel decided to change the coach, and chose Veselin Vujović as the new head of the professional staff, thus surprising the handball public in the entire region.
The legend of Yugoslav handball accepted the invitation of RK Borac m: tel, which now wants to make a step forward and win trophies in BiH, but also go as far as possible in the EHF Cup.
Vujović arrived in Banja Luka, and after meeting with the team and the professional staff on Sunday, he was officially promoted as the coach of Borac on Monday.
„Simply a world and Yugoslav legend, it is superfluous to represent Vuja. A fighter deserves a giant like Vuja. We have great ambitions, and we are one step closer to their realization with the arrival of Vuja,“ said the president of Borac, Sasa Kondic.
At the presentation, Veselin Vujović said that he was honored to come to the big club and that he would try to justify the trust.
„These words oblige me, since I came to Banja Luka, everyone sees me as a legend. I am honored to have come to a great club,“ said the popular Vuja, adding that the negotiations were very short. „We quickly agreed and I will try to justify all this. I can only say all the best about Borac and Banja Luka.“
Reminding the journalists that Jovica Cvetković said that the Banja Luka fighter in handball is what Real Madrid is in football, Vuja agreed and said:
„I’m sorry I didn’t think of that first.“
„I must say that in my time, the players from BiH, no matter what part they were from, were very good. Bosnians have always been educated players and people who can always be relied on. Zdravko Radjenovic is probably the best player in the history of the former Yugoslavia. he said that it was me, but I should not compare myself with Beli at all, „Vujovic pointed out.
Vujovic signed a five-month contract, but leaves open the possibility of staying in Banja Luka for longer.
„I do not consider coming to Borac a step back in my career. I signed for five months, and then we will see if Vuja is for Borac and vice versa,“ said Vujović.
After last night’s introduction to the team, he will do the first training with the Borac team today.
„I will get a true picture of the existing team only when we start working, but I would be lying to say that Borac does not have quality. We will try to find good and quality reinforcements, and we will start from the goalkeeping position, which is a priority.“
Mirko Mikić will remain in the professional staff, as well as all the others who have been so far and there will be no change.
„The professional staff remains the same, there is no need to change that. I am just here as a reinforcement. You know how they say in Dalmatia: ‘Man and cargo know more than man.'“
„I don’t know the BiH Premier League well, I followed the national team from Zagreb more, but I have already met something, and I will try to analyze everything well,“ said Vujović.
