Montenegro handball players have provided great resistance to the Croats, and Dragan Djukic selector of „lions“ is happy also in Split.
The Serbian expert has created a compact team that is able to match the best teams in the world.
– We chose who we will be in front of the European Championship and we selected Croatia for a general test. I am proud that they also chose us, which confirmed that we also showed an excellent edition last year on the Croation Cup, and that we were at a high level tonight. There are segments in the game that can be on a higher level, but it was obvious that both teams are in full preparation and that they are heavy players. Good performance in Split, but that does not mean anything, because it’s the most important thing to be at the right level when the championship starts. We have seven more days for the final glaze and final tactics of tactical ideas. The most important thing is that the edition in Split confirms that this team should receive the support of fans of the handball, but also sports in Montenegro, because we have shown that we are a team, that we are deserved on the European Championship and that we have the cover to dream of the first victory. We did not use Grbovic, who works in full capacity with the remainder of the team and I believe that I will have sweet pains to choose 18 guys who will travel to Zagreb, were the first impressions of the selectors after the match with Croatia.
Djukic was again questioned about the condition of the injured Vuk Borozan.
– I do not have new information. I can only repeat what I said, and that is that every player who wants to play for Montenegro is welcome. He himself has to make that decision. As far as we are concerned, there is no pressure, and he is welcome, but it is likely that he suffers from the pressure of both the club and the entire Macedonian public, because it is the atmosphere to advance his performance in the championship. The goal of all of us is that we do not complete the competition after the first week and three matches played, and we have the right to make changes in the composition and everything is open, Djukic said.
„Lions“ are returning to Podgorica where they will make final preparations before the start of the European Championship.
– The players will get a free day for Christmas and after that we continue preparations. There was another friendly game in the plan, but it will not be, so we decided to play one match on January 9th in which we will be divided into two teams. We will work until January 11 for new solutions in the attack and on the analysis of the opponent. We felt the atmosphere of the European Championship, because this is noticeable in Split at every turn, and this is a valuable experience that we have with the positive impression that we made in the match against a great opponent, Djukic concluded.
