The handball team of Montenegro gathered in Podgorica, for the first time after returning to the biggest scene and winning the European Championship. The selectors of Dragan Djukic will play two control matches with the Czech Republic within the EHF week.
Going to the European Championship, returning from a lost position in the qualifications, great releases in the matches with Sweden and Russia, the potential that the team has – from the Montenegrin handball players is expected much on the championship in Croatia.
Djukic is expecting this, but his style is not megalomaniac and pretentious:
– The overwhelming words and the overwhelming promise are something that has often stumbled across the national team of Montenegro. Great competitions were like an intersection, after which they moved from the beginning. I want this competition to be a new, different start – the continuous participation in the biggest scene and the beginning of one generation. We will do everything to make it, Djukic pointed out.
The placement of a large competition is, therefore, a basic goal, all over it – a big deal.
Montenegro will be ready to take a step further in Croatia.
– What I promise is that we will not retreat, that we will be fully prepared – tactically, technically and physically. If someone is better than us, we will congratulate him.

– He knows what a handball boom in Macedonia is. Vardar is the champion of Europe, Metalurg plays great, the national team has been together for a long time. 6-7 thousand fans will come to Zagreb and support each other, as they usually have on large competitions, Djukic emphasized.
What counts the rivals to the maximum does not mean, however, that they do not think about miracles. As an example, everything is possible in sport, Djukic recently listed the basketball team of Slovenia, and the Greek football team, who came to the European throne from the second or third plan.
– If all of you are complex and homogeneous, you know what you want, then everything is possible. It is a motive to be even stronger and to go to that competition to play as before. I think that Montenegro has a recognizable style of the game and I think that our rivals know this too, concluded Djukic.
