The President of the Russian Handball Federation, Sergei Shishkarev, in a conversation with the TASS correspondent Artem Kuznetsov, announced the resignation of Ambros Martin as the head coach of the Russian women’s national team after the defeat by the Danish team at the European Championship.
- Ambros Martin will now be forced to resign. In the last interview, he said that he is focused on two teams: one of them is the Russian national team, the other is the family. We deliberately made the decision to give him the opportunity to concentrate on another team – his family. May he raise his sons and be happy. Sons are very important, as a father of three sons I understand him very well. The second coach will prepare the team for the upcoming game for the fifth place and for the next games of the Olympic qualifications. Who and how, we will decide at the meeting of the executive board. The candidacy of Yevgeny Vasilyevich Trefilov will not be considered. He is a great man, a great coach, I love and respect him very much, but his health does not allow him to lead the Russian national team.
